BASE OPERATIONS

In this section of our website we will focus on photographic reports of military aircraft operations on a specific Air Base we have visited in the past. It will show pictures taken on these specific Air Bases by our GMAP team members during their global trips. These reports will not only be from the recent past but also from several years ago and will show the possibilities of taking pictures at these Air Bases.

HYAKURI AIR BASE 27-10-2010

One of the best location to do some military aircraft spotting in Japan is definitely Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) Air Base Hyakuri close to Tokyo. This is one of the main fighter bases in Japan and has the best possible options to take some nice photographs of active military aircraft. Besides the very good photo spots at Hyakuri are the local based aircraft als one of the best in the JASDF. Currently in 2018 they still operate the magnificent F-4EJ Phantom fleet but also the very colorful RF-4 Recce Phantom’s. During our visit in 2010 there were still the F-15’s from 305 Hikotai as well but all these Eagle’s moved to Nyutabaru Air Base and all the Phantoms from 301 Hykotai moved later to Hyakuri as well.
