Chinese Aviation Museum, Datangshan
The Chinese Aviation museum is located some 40km north of the city of Beijing in Xiaotangshanzhen, and is one of those places that you as an aviation enthusiast must have visited. The enormous collection of aircraft belonged to one of the largest aviation museums in the world, and the museum is also called Datangshan named after the mountain with the same name on the former Shahezhen Airbase. Of each type of aircraft which has served in China, several models can be found and therefore more then 300+ aircraft can be found in this museum. The museum was first opened to the public on 11 November 1989, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force. Part of the museum is located inside a cave in the side of Datangshan Mountain. The cavern was originally part of the tunnels and underground bunker system of Shahezhen Airbase.
Back in 2006 Global Military Aviation Photography visited the museum so there will be changed a lot in the last years.
