On April 29th a United States Navy (USN) Boeing C-40A Clipper visited Schiphol airport. The Clipper flew from Sigonella, Italy direct to Schiphol with call sign “CNV6001”. One hour later the Clipper took off again and flew directly back to Italy
The C-40A with serial “168981” belongs to the VR-61 Islanders is normally based at NAS Whidbey Island in the United States but does have an detachment at Sigonella.
The mission of VR-61 is to support Department of Defense logistics requirements and providing continuous short notice worldwide logistics service as well.
