A rare visitor touched down at Schiphol at May 5th 2026 as a Boeing C-17A Globemaster III from the Kuwait Air Force made a notable appearance in the Netherlands. The aircraft, carrying the serial KAF-343, belongs to Kuwait’s small but highly capable strategic airlift fleet and immediately attracted attention from aviation enthusiasts and military spotters around the airport.

The Kuwait Air Force (KAF) operates a fleet of just two Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. These heavy strategic airlifters are based at Abdullah Al-Mubarak Air Base, located at Kuwait International Airport, and are assigned to the KAF’s 42nd Squadron. Due to the extremely limited fleet size, every international deployment of these aircraft is considered noteworthy among military aviation enthusiasts.

The powerful Boeing C-17 Globemaster III is known worldwide for its impressive heavy-lift capabilities. Designed to transport troops, cargo, armored vehicles, and humanitarian supplies over long distances, the aircraft can operate from relatively short and austere runways, making it one of the most versatile military transport aircraft currently in service.

During its stay at Schiphol, KAF-343 was seen parked on the cargo side of the airport, adding a rare Middle Eastern military presence to the normally busy mix of civilian cargo traffic at Amsterdam’s international hub.
